- 1984: Bacharel em Oceanografia pela Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro;
- 1990: Mestre em Oceanografia (Oceanografia Física) pela Universidade de São Paulo;
- 1996: Ph. D. em Ciências da Terra - Oceanografia Física pela University of New Hampshire;
- 1997: Pós-doutorado em Oceanografia Física pela University of Rhode Island (1996-1997);
- 2007: Professor Livre-docente pela Universidade de São Paulo.
Áreas de atuação
Sua atuação principal é em dinâmica de meso-escala associada a correntes de contorno oeste, com ênfase em estudos de instabilidade geofísica e formação de vórtices. Desenvolve pesquisa em oceanografia dinâmica experimental, teórica e numérica.
